How to split a sound file into two in Audacity
Sometime you may have a sound file that you want to split into two.
This is very easy to do in Audacity.
Load the file into the program and then by listening to it or looking at the waveform, work out where the split should be. In the sound file I was using it is pretty clear where the split should be.
Select with the cursor one half of the sound file up to the point where it needs to be split
From the menu at the top select Edità Split. The program will then create two sound files.
Here is the important bit. You need to save them as separate files. Click on either the top half or the bottom half and then select File à export selection as WAV (or …as MP3). Then do the same for the other half. If you don’t do the export selection.. bit then all the work will be wasted.
